UPDATE, 4.10pm: Burned car found in Caniambo

Police are looking for the owners of a car that was found burned in Caniambo, or anyone who saw anything before it was set on fire.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Senior Constable Andrew Costello said the car was found by a passerby on Shepparton-Dookie College Rd at 4.30am on Thursday March 17.

It is a Holden Commodore Calais sedan.

Police are seeking information from anyone who saw anything or knows who owns the car.

Anyone with information can contact Det Sen Constable Costello at Shepparton Police on 5820 5777.

UPDATE, 3:15 p.m.: Close the Gap Day calls for more funding for children’s education

As part of National Close the Gap Day on March 17, calls have been made for increased government funding and support by Lulla’s Children Family Center for the education of First Nations children in Shepparton.

The Victorian government has said it aims to help First Nations children ‘shine’ by encouraging greater participation in kindergarten and unveiling packed lunches for First Nations children in Victorian kindergartens.

However, the president of the Lulla Children’s Family Center and wife of Bangerang, Anne Atkinson, told The News that she would like to see more funding and support to further expand the center and help with staffing.

“These are the hardest working women I know, I thank them for the work they do, they go above and beyond for these children…but they are the lowest paid workers I know,” a- she declared.

UPDATE, 2:25 p.m.: GV Health announces closure of Shepparton Showgrounds COVID-19 testing site

The Shepparton Showgrounds drive through COVID-19 testing site will close permanently from today, due to reduced demand for testing.

The drive-through testing site was first set up in response to the COVID-19 outbreak in August 2021, where testing volumes at the site peaked on September 2, 2021, when more than 900 PCR tests were done in one day.

Anyone requiring a COVID-19 PCR test or RAT collection should go to the GV Health Acute Respiratory Clinic, at Graham Street in Shepparton, which remains open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

UPDATE, 1 p.m.: Tractor overturn leaves man trapped

Shepparton Search and Rescue Commander Gary Lovell said a tractor overturn in an orchard in Lemnos left a man trapped.

They were called to the property around 11am this morning and worked with FRV crews to free the man, who was pinned by the leg, arm and torso.

He said Ambulance Victoria had since airlifted the man to hospital in Melbourne.

UPDATE, 12:50 p.m.: Emergency services respond to farming incident

Shepparton Search and Rescue and Victoria Police responded to a farming incident in Lemnos this morning.

The incident is believed to have involved one person, Shepparton Search and Rescue had two vehicles at the scene.

UPDATE, 12:25 p.m.: SPC sales spike

As if the rising cost of fuel weren’t enough, as a result, price increases at SPC caused a situation akin to toilet paper, but more like baked beans and spaghetti.

Managing Director Sam Prentice said the SPC Factory Sales outlet in Shepparton and the Food Factory Sales outlets in Melbourne and Geelong had seen a dramatic increase in sales since SPC warned that rising fuel prices would increase costs.

“Since the price increases were announced, we’ve seen a real surge in sales and people who would normally buy a few cans have bought cartons, they’ve filled their carts,” he said.

So, either someone is throwing the BEST party ever, or they’re just simply worried about the rising prices of their beloved beans, fruits, and other produce. Either way, cut it, please.

UPDATE 10:40 a.m.: Men will receive bravery awards

“You don’t think about the pain, it was a matter of what we had to do.”

In October 2015, Andrew Black, his partner Louise McLaughlan and their young daughter were traveling along Katamatite-Shepparton Rd near Invergordon.

Directly ahead of them on the road was Paul Ewert, train conductor for Pacific National Trains, traveling with Joel Pring and Allan Cogger.

Tragically, a tractor-trailer rounded a steep curve, missing its own side of the road and instead headed straight for the cars in front of it, leaving them no choice but to pray for a miracle.

Nicola Ceccato told the story here, speaking with Paul Ewert and Andrew Black who receive awards for bravery for risking their lives to save another.

UPDATE, 9:30 a.m.: Get ready to light up

In a first for the region, Illuminate Festival is coming to town next Friday and Saturday, bringing with it headliners ARIA Award winners Clare Bowditch and Christine Anu.

And in a fangirl moment for me, Cobram’s own Eliott will perform, featuring Drew Walker, Deans of Soul, Grim Fawkner and Adalita, and a Welcome to Country performed by Wulumbara and Minyerra.

Fascinating light installations and experiences are set to hit Lake Victoria Park for the festival, along with 20 food vendor options, an adventure light path, an exhilarating robot garden light and more.

Notre Dame College in Shepparton had to cancel a series of classes at various levels and days due to a lack of staff.

In recent data released by the Crime Statistics Agency, it appears that a man charged with more than 300 sex offenses was largely responsible for the 200% rise in recorded sex offenses in Greater Shepparton in 2021, according to police.

Louis City Police Chief John Hayden said Wednesday in an emotional press conference that one of the two city officers shot dead today in Ferguson was in unstable critical condition after being shot in the abdomen. A second officer was shot in the leg.

Outside Barnes Jewish Hospital, Hayden, the police chief of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, said he had just visited the injured city officers inside. He said the pair were chasing a car “suspected to be involved in a homicide” around 1 p.m. this afternoon.

The pursuit took them from St. Louis to Ferguson. Near the intersection of West Florrisant and Canfield Drive, an occupant (or occupants) of the vehicle opened fire on officers, although Hayden said he did not know whether officers returned fire.

TV star Regina King’s son Ian Alexander Jr has tragically died in a reported suicide just days before launching his music career.

He was a DJ and singer-songwriter who performed under the name Desduné.

Days before his death, Ian, 26, posted on Instagram of an upcoming event in Bardot this month.

Just last week, Regina took to Instagram to urge her followers to support her son’s new single, Green Eyes.

The 51-year-old Oscar-winning actress confirmed the death of her only child on Friday in a statement in which she called Ian “a shining light who cared so deeply for the happiness of others.”

The statement read: “Our family is devastated on the deepest level by the loss of Ian.

“He is such a bright light who cared so deeply for the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you.”

A funding request of £ 585,000 is being made to the Arts Council to modernize the Harris Special Exhibition Galleries.

Preston City Council is applying for the grant as part of Harris Your Place, the project to transform the Grade I listed building into an innovative community-centric cultural center in the heart of the city.

The application is submitted to the capital investment program recently launched by the Arts Council. The fund is an open access program to help cultural organizations operate safely after the pandemic.

The money would pay for the Harris Special Exhibition Galleries to be upgraded to the government’s compensation standard, through the purchase of new blinds, exhibition lighting, signage, heating and ventilation.

The work would allow Harris to host larger-scale and more complex exhibitions, including loans from major galleries and museums.

Approval to submit the grant application was given at a board meeting on Thursday, December 9th.

It was also agreed that £ 28,637.50 + VAT would be spent on the designs needed for the application.

The Arts Council app follows recent approaches by the Wolfson Foundation and the Garfield Weston Foundation to cover fit-out work for the second-story balcony, the reception area where the new elevator arrives, and the Special Collections gallery. .

Meanwhile, work is underway at Harris using up-front £ 10million funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Towns Fund.

A man has died after being crushed to death after a crane allegedly dropped his load at a construction site in east London.

Paramedics, police and firefighters rushed to an incident on East Road near Old Street around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon (Tuesday, December 21).

A man was struck by a falling object, police said, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident allegedly took place at a construction site near the junction with Vestry Street.

Both roads were blocked and a cordon remained in place for several hours, causing significant delays.

In a statement, London firefighters said: “Firefighters have been called in to assist paramedics in an incident on East Road in Hackney.

“The brigade was called at 1:31 pm Two fire trucks from Shoreditch and Islington and a fire rescue unit from the Euston Fire Station are on scene.”

The weather police have also been approached for comment.

Preston City Council today approved a site near the downtown bus station for the new youth zone.

Built as part of the £ 20.9million Towns Fund project, the Preston Youth Zone will see a facility created for Preston youth between the ages of eight and 19.

The site, adjacent to Lord Street, meets the criteria for locating successful youth zones by providing a prominent but neutral location, easily accessible by public transport and of an adequate size for the proposed development.

John Chesworth, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Preston City Towns Fund, said: “The approval of the land by Preston City Council and the continued partnership with OnSide is the next critical step in creating a much needed youth zone for Preston.

“It is essential that Preston has the capacity to support young people, provide them with a safe space, provide skills and advice as well as create more jobs and volunteer roles in the downtown area.

The national charity OnSide, which has a network of 14 similar youth zones across the UK, has been working with local Preston partners for several years to develop a youth zone in Preston.

They successfully submitted a proposal as part of the Preston Towns Fund offer which was accepted by the UK government earlier this year.

The Preston Youth Zone will offer young people advice on skills, career and employment. It will also be an opportunity to discover new passions, to make friends and to thrive in an inclusive, welcoming and exciting environment.

The facilities will include:

• Four-court sports hall
• 3G outdoor kick pitch
• Gym, boxing and martial arts
• Music room with integrated recording studio
• Arts and Crafts Space

• Rooms for carrying out projects in areas such as business and employability.

The Youth Zone aims to support around 4,000 young people. It will also create 70 permanent jobs, including 35 full-time equivalents.

Councilor Matthew Brown, Head of Preston City Council, said, “The Youth Zone is a high priority for our city. I am proud that the board can step in and provide the necessary land in a good location to allow this exciting project to move forward.

“This project will support youth, give them access to positive activities to do in their community and improve their health and well-being, boost their aspirations into adulthood, and support community cohesion and a vibrant downtown Preston.” .

“While this is a vital next step, we continue to look to Lancashire County Council for much needed support for the ongoing income costs of the Youth Zone. “

Preston Youth Zone is one of six projects included in the Harris Quarter Towns Fund’s investment program.

The Regeneration Program, which focuses on culture, recreation, housing, infrastructure, community and education through downtown regeneration, is part of the City of Preston Investment Plan.

While some of the initial funding will come from the Towns Fund, OnSide will raise funds for the remaining construction and operating costs from a range of trusts, grants, private sector contributions and philanthropy.

ANNA Duggar stays with her husband Josh as her child pornography trial continues.

It comes as news broke that Josh’s sister Jill and brother Jedidiah may take a stand in his Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) bomb lawsuit.

Jill and Jedidiah are expected to testify in the case, however, it is not clear whether it will be for the prosecution or the defense.

Former 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar was charged earlier this year with two counts of downloading and possessing child pornography.

Josh, who has pleaded not guilty, has been charged with possessing sick images of CSAM which were “the worst of the worst” authorities have ever seen.

Josh’s trial is expected to last until early this week. If found guilty, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

I have enjoyed going to some of the communities in Caerphilly over the past few months to visit a number of projects that are receiving money from my community fund.

These included skateboard workshops that were held across the county and a graffiti workshop at the Senghenydd Youth Drop in Center. It was fantastic to see so many young people trying something new and having fun.

The aim of these projects is to give children and young people something in which they can channel their energy and where they can develop their confidence and skills, and work with positive adult role models.

Children and young people are often the most vulnerable people in our communities, which can put them at risk of becoming involved in crime and anti-social behavior. The purpose of these sessions is to offer them an alternative to this and hopefully steer them on a more positive path for the future.

Gwent Police Officers in Rhymney held Safer Streets welcome sessions for residents of Moriah, Pontlottyn and Twyn Carno neighborhoods in Rhymney earlier this month.

Safer Streets is a Home Office grant fund that can be used by police forces to tackle neighborhood crimes such as burglary.

The goals of the project are simple: to make streets and communities safer, reduce crime in neighborhoods, and support victims. By providing improved locks for doors and windows to those in need in the area, and crime prevention kits to others, for example, Gwent Police are helping residents protect their valuables.
