Along with the redesigned site, Spotify is launching new rankings based on genres, cities and more, perfect for artists and fans alike.

Last year, Spotify relaunched and extended Spotify Charts to give artists more opportunities to celebrate their success with their fans. These new cards were published as playlists in the Spotify application, with weekly flagship and debut charts Twitter and Instagram. With its latest update, Spotify is hoping its Charts site will be the new destination to dig deep into all the data, see what music moves listeners around the world, and share the success of the music and artists you love. Spotify Charts gives more artists the opportunity to reach a global position and gives fans and artists new shareable promotional cards to celebrate victories and milestones together.

Log in to dive deeper with comprehensive rankings of the world’s top 200 tracks, albums, and artists, along with detailed stats like sequences, peak position, and song credits, plus new Genre, City, and song charts. Artist paintings

The first in the update are Spotify’s artist lists. These show who is at the top of their game based on feeds from their entire catalog and give fans a chance to follow the rise of their favorite artist. Updated every Friday, the artists’ paintings feature the top 200 artists from around the world. Use the drop-down menu at the top right to filter by any of the 65 markets.


Genre tables

As new sounds emerge and various artists collaborate, the concept of genres grows and new genres are born. Spotify’s Genre Charts celebrate this evolution and help fans stay on top of their favorites. Each week, Spotify generates the top 200 songs in 17 genres. Song genres are based on the context of user playlists and editorial comments. Currently, artists are not able to change the genres of their songs, but can report any categorization errors to Spotify Artist Support Team.


City and local pulse graphics

Artists and fans all over the world have created the soundtrack of their cities. Every Friday, Spotify’s City Charts lists popular music among listeners in over 200 of the world’s largest cities.

The local Pulse charts take it a step further, highlighting songs that are particularly popular in each city. The popularity of each song among listeners in each city is compared to its popularity around the world, to show the distinct taste of local listeners.


Chart data and songwriter credits

Along with the new ratings comes new data, with an expanded view showing dates of entry into the ratings, peak positions, streaks, as well as the songwriters, producers and label or distributor feeding each release. .


Promotional cards

Available for artists and fans alike, shareable promo cards are a great way for both to celebrate their success. The new promotional cards accompany any graphic position on their site. Just click Following next to any track, SHARE THE PROMO CARD, choose the aspect ratio, then download or share the map on Twitter or Facebook.
