Daryl Baxter, Software and Downloads Writer for TechRadar, is excited about everything Android 12 today. The new software is not yet available on phones, but we could hear what it will land.

He said: “After a month of iOS 15 being available, it will be interesting to see how Android 12 performs with themes and widgets. This is something iOS users have been asking for for a long time.

“If we hear more about it, like more themes for the Pixel 6, it might be appealing to those looking to upgrade.”

What surprise would you like to see appear at today’s Pixel event?

Unlike most phone launches, we actually know what the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will look like. It’s also not through leaked information, as the company is constantly teasing new handsets.

We saw the company reveal the handsets online, and they then followed that through other events such as their installation in the storefront of their New York flagship store.

Usually a company like Google would like to leave this big reveal for the handsets debut, but this unique approach means we’ve had a lot of time to get used to the design and now we’re more excited about the features of the phone to come. .

There may be a few surprises today, but we’re unlikely to hear anything big around the phone’s design as we already know all of these details.

Will there be something of Google’s Nest brand today? Carrie Skinner, Editor-in-Chief of Homes at TechRadar, said: “I don’t expect Google to launch any new Nest devices tonight, as we’ve already seen a number of smart home devices launch in Canada. during the year.

“At the end of August, four new Nest security cameras and video doorbells were announced, while its smaller smart display, the Google Nest Hub, received a redesign in March of this year.”

So what is the Google Pixel Pass? This has been leaked over the past few weeks and is expected to be a rival to Apple One. It will be a subscription service where you can access all of Google’s services such as YouTube Premium and Google One cloud storage.

On top of that, the leak suggests that it will let you upgrade your phone every year with the new Pixel phone. For example, if you purchased Pixel Pass on the Pixel 6, you will be able to upgrade to a new Pixel 7 in 12 months.

There’s no guarantee this will launch alongside the Pixel 6, but a big leak strongly suggests that it will be ready to go later today.

Olivia Tambini, Audio and Music Writer for TechRadar, says: “Given that the Pixel Buds A-Series launched just a few months ago, we don’t think it’s likely we’ll see a new pair of Pixels. Buds at today’s event.

That said, there is a small chance that Google could take this opportunity to announce an upgrade to its Pixel Buds (2020) and bring us the Pixel Buds (2021).

The Pixel Buds A-Series are a cheaper, less premium version of the 2020 Pixel Buds, so a new version of the latter could see high-end features like active noise cancellation introduced into the lineup.

How to watch the Pixel 6 launch event? The link below will allow you to connect directly from Google’s own feed.

When the event kicks off, you will be able to watch the live stream directly above, or click on the video on YouTube itself. You can also set a reminder to not miss the event.

Beyond that, there is another way to look: Google has set up a website for the event which you can find by clicking here. The site gives the basic information about the event and allows you to change the look of the website by holding the space key (a reference to the Material You feature of Android 12).

There is no actual reference to a live broadcast of an event on the site, but other parts of Google’s product website suggest that the video will be shown there.

It’s very possible that Android 12 could be rolled out to eligible phones after the later unveiling event – it’s full Android, not the beta. By “eligible” we mean one of the latest generations of Pixel phones, as other brands need to make their own versions of Android 12.

We don’t know for sure, but there’s nothing wrong with getting your Pixel phone ready if you’re excited. Maybe back up your data and charge your phone to get the official news about it.

If you have a Pixel phone and are excited about Android 12, you might get an extra bonus, as it seems likely that the larger feature in the update won’t be available on other phones, at least until in 2022. It’s Material You, the feature redesign theme, and Google has yet to share the code with other phone brands.

If you were hoping the Google Pixel Watch might pop up today … sorry, but we’ve heard some unsubstantiated leaks about its debut before every Pixel event since the beginning of time, so you’ve only got yourself to blame for that. Stadium.

For example, a big leak just said that the smartwatch won’t come today – apparently it will more likely arrive in the first few months of 2022, although that again sounds like a vague guess.

Either way, don’t hold your breath for Wear OS’s planned showcase, and it looks like it’s a mobile-focused launch.

Oh Google (or Amazon, we don’t know who’s at fault here): the Google Pixel 6 Pro has already been listed, with all the specs.

The page “confirms” that the phone will ship an OLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, powerful 12GB RAM, an under-screen fingerprint camera … everything is listed on Amazon if you want to see full specs (although we imagine it may be phased out soon).

We say ‘confirm’ because that doesn’t mean it will certainly be the final list of specs – time and time again we’ve seen retailers upload a product page before the announcement, only to find that it’s based on rumors that we ‘I brought you.

In this case though, it looks a lot more concrete, based on some details. Saying “~ 89.0% screen-to-body ratio” and “Triple 50 MP, (wide), PDAF, OIS, 48 MP, (telephoto), PDAF, OIS, 4x optical zoom, 12 MP, (ultrawide), features Dual-LED Flash, Pixel Shift, Auto-HDR, Panorama, 4K Video @ 30 / 60fps, 1080p @ 30/60/120 / 240fps; gyro-EIS “for the camera looks a lot more like a reprint of a datasheet than ‘to an internal info copy from the web.

Well, just a few more hours to find out if this one is right …

Welcome to Google Pixel 6 launch day. This is one of the weirdest smartphone launches of the year, as we’ve seen this phone teased multiple times online, appear in TV commercials and even in the storefronts of the company’s New York City store.

However, there are still a few key details that we don’t know. We don’t know how much that will cost, when it comes out, some of the base specs and we don’t know what the company’s new Tensor chip is really capable of.

The Google Pixel 6 will be fully unveiled later today at the company’s big launch event. What else can we expect to see? There will definitely be a reveal for the Google Pixel 6 Pro.

Other potential announcements include more details about Android 12 and when it will arrive on other Pixel phones as well as disclosures for the Google Pixel Watch or Google Pixel Fold.

Stay with us throughout the day to hear everything we see as the big event approaches, like the last minute leaks and teasers we see from Google HQ.
