The College of Southern Idaho reports an increase in summer enrollment – and the Twin Falls-based college is hoping for a high fall count as well.

A total of 2,326 students are taking summer school this year, Zac Ezzone of the Twin Falls Times-News reported this week. This is against 1,615 in 2020, in the first months of the pandemic.

Total credit hours are also on the rise, Ezzone reported – totaling 10,966 this summer. A year ago the total was 7,480.

College officials hope summer enrollment trends continue.

CSI’s fall registrations are higher than a year ago. This year’s summer enrollment includes 541 new CSI students, and 65% of those students are enrolled for the fall, Ezzone reported.

“If we can keep the momentum going, we’ll be in great shape for next fall,” Chris Bragg, dean of institutional effectiveness and communications at CSI, told Ezzone.

Last fall, CSI reported an enrollment in the fall of 3,987, excluding dual credit students.
