When oh when can we travel?

I don’t have a crystal ball so I can’t answer some of them, but I’ll do my best.

I feel your pain, South Aussie desperate to go to NSW! I’m in Vic and my wedding dress is stuck in Qld! I hope to be able to see him at Christmas, with my parents who are also up there. I haven’t seen them since March and my dress since last Christmas, so it will be a happy reunion on many fronts. Sending positive waves to all who are separated from family and friends and wedding attire!

Will the caps on inbound international flights be lifted in November? Are there more details regarding home quarantine requirements for the return of vaccinated Australian citizens traveling to NSW?

-Jo

Hi Jo, the prime minister said he wants this to happen, and soon.

In a video posted to social media, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he had spoken to Mr Perrottet about opening the international border with New South Wales faster than expected, as the rate of state immunization continues to increase.

The federal government has announced that international borders will reopen in November for states that have reached 80% vaccination rates, starting with NSW.

Australians and fully vaccinated permanent residents arriving in NSW will be able to quarantine themselves at home rather than a hotel for a week, pending the success of the home quarantine trial of the State.

Mr Morrison said he and Mr Perrottet discussed how to speed up this plan once the home quarantine began.

“I know the NSW government is looking at ways to speed up home quarantine in November and if that happens we can take action to facilitate the opening of the international border with NSW earlier, ”Mr. Morrison said.

“This would mean a home quarantine for vaccinated Australians wishing to return home via Sydney and would allow vaccinated Australians to travel abroad to leave and return.”

Mr Perrottet has said he wants to open international borders as quickly and safely as possible to bring stranded Australians back home.

He said if the state was able to do so, it would help other states bring residents home, especially those with lower vaccination rates – “only Queensland should foot this bill”, did he declare.
