The Director of Ambulance Operations for the London Ambulance Service paid tribute to the Queen and spoke of the support the organization will be providing to bereaved people over the next few hours.

He said: “We join the rest of the country and people around the world in sending our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family at this time of immense and deep grief for our nation.

“Her Majesty has done so much to support the NHS and emergency services throughout her long and memorable reign, and our staff and volunteers were proud and humbled to be able to support her Platinum Jubilee celebration this summer.

“While extremely saddened, I know our paramedics, 999 call handlers and other staff and volunteers feel the same pride and honor in being able to serve Her Majesty – and care for Londoners – as we mark his bequest and his funeral.

“With the increase in the number of visitors to London, we expect to be particularly busy, but we have solid plans in place to ensure that we continue to provide the best possible care to people in the capital.”

Mr Farmer added that the organization had worked closely with the Royal Household, Met Police, Cabinet Office, other ambulance services and TfL to provide the right care and support to those in need. .

He added: “Over the next few days we will have approximately 120 additional staff deployed across our 999 control rooms and on the road, increasing to 300 additional staff on duty on the day of the funeral (Monday).

“This will include teams on foot in crowded areas and in our 999 control rooms, to manage the expected increase in demand and ensure we reach the most seriously ill and injured patients as quickly as possible.”
