As the world turnsAfter four years of playing Dusty Donovan, Grayson McCouch has reportedly decided to leave As the world turns early next year. Although the 39-year-old actor’s departure has not been officially announced, various sources have hinted at the news.

Co-star Cady McClain’s blog post last week gives more confirmation of McCouch’s exit. In the article, the 38-year-old actress, who plays Rosanna Cabot in As the world turns, spoke about her longtime soap opera status and spoke about her last day on the show. She also mentions in the same post that her last day on set, ironically, was the same as that of McCouch, who received a cake and gave his farewell speech to the cast and crew on the show.

So far, the main reason for McCouch leaving the As the world turns has not been revealed. But several speculations have already surfaced in the media as to why he decided to leave after nearly five years of career with the series. While an insider on the show claims McCouch was asked to cut his salary, other reports say he just wanted to take a break from the soap opera.

Grayson joined the cast in 2003, becoming the second actor to play Dusty Donovan since Brian Bloom left the show in 1988. He made his television debut as Dr. Morgan Winthrop on Another world in 1993, before landing roles on Heritage and All souls. His film credits include Sins of the Spirit, Armageddon, and Momentum, Just to name a few. Last year he was honored for his work on As the world turns with an outstanding supporting actor Daytime Emmy nods.

News of McCouch’s exit isn’t exactly new. Earlier this year he was said to be leaving the show when he landed a starring role in a drama series titled The apostles. Sadly, FOX decided not to pick up the series for its fall schedule so it stuck with As the world turns.
