Birthdays are finally worth waiting for again in Toronto now that things are reopening across the city.

The restaurants, bars and experiences that we’ve missed for a good year or more are back, with plenty of summer pop-ups adding to the fun. It seems only fitting that we make this year’s anniversary even more special, given that last year was probably spent in sweatpants.

Here are some places to celebrate your birthday in Toronto.

Cold tea labora

Cold Tea may not be in Kensington anymore, but their West Queen West bar has a serious Spanish vibe these days as Labora has resumed her cooking. Food is cooked over fires on a patio while the Cold Tea team takes care of the drinks.

El Tren Latino

This St. Clair West bar knows how to throw a party with salsa, live music and karaoke nights on the program. Latin American bites like empanadas and enchiladas, as well as pina coladas, will be your dance fuel.

Stackt Market

It might not sound fabulous to spend your birthday in the middle of a pile of shipping containers, but you’d be wrong. Stackt offers sips from Belgian Brasserie Moon and dishes from Momofuku Noodle Bar. Or you and a group can find a spot on the patio for tacos and a view of the CN Tower.

Putt Par-Tee

Back open after a long closure, this indoor mini-golf is the guarantee of having a good time. There are almost 30 themed holes that are sure to inspire good old nostalgia. Then you can discuss the technique (or lack of it) around food and beer under one roof.

Let’s make summer

This summer pop-up near Queen and Bathurst, complete with a garden patio, cute photo ops, tasty food and booze, is a boon for Leo’s birthdays. Make it even more special by scheduling a wine tasting. No ticket is required for entry and it will last until at least August 16.

Free game

Immersing yourself in a game of Super Mario while drinking craft beer with your best player friends wouldn’t be half a bad birthday party. It will only cost $ 5 to play all night. Plus, there are live DJs on weekends at this retro arcade bar.

Dream escape

Escape rooms are ideal if you enjoy solving puzzles and working against the clock. They are also a big distraction from the fact that you are a year older. Dream Escape is one of the more recent room experiences where you try to escape an alien abduction or a broken elevator.

Ontario Place

It may not yet be revitalized, but Ontario Place still has a lot to do this summer. There’s a new lakeside lounge with live music, jet ski tours and fire pit rentals that just might be the perfect outdoor spot for you and your friends to eat smores and take in the views.

Appointment views

This art-covered patio with an amazing view of the CN Tower was a boring old parking lot. Now this is the perfect place to celebrate another more year with friends. There are comedy and art nights, as well as other events, so plan accordingly.

Crews & Tangos

If you’re looking to dance with all your heart surrounded by friends and future friends, Toronto’s favorite drag bar will be your best bet. Drag shows take place every night and the queens on stage are generous with birthday cries.
